China's Capsule Endoscopy Shines at the 2023 Russian Digestive Endoscopy Congress

The 2023 Russian Digestive Endoscopy Congress was held in Saint Petersburg, Russia from March 29th to 31st. Over 3,000 experts from 15 countries attended the conference to exchange academic insights.

During the "China-Russia Bridge" session on March 29th, Professor Lou Jingan, the Director of the Department of Gastroenterology at the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang University School of Medicine, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Application of Capsule Endoscopy in Pediatrics." Professor Lou introduced the history, features, and applications of capsule endoscopy in pediatric small bowel diseases.

Professor Lou stated that since the successful development of the first capsule endoscope in China by JINSHAN in 2004, the research and development of Chinese-made capsule endoscopy products have progressed in parallel with academic research. Capsule endoscopy has become one of the most important diagnostic tools for small bowel diseases in children and adults worldwide after more than 20 years of development. His team has been performing capsule endoscopy examinations in children since 2008, and as of the end of 2022, they have completed a total of 1638 cases of pediatric capsule endoscopy.

During his presentation, he highlighted the data from his hospital and showcased many typical cases diagnosed using JINSHAN'S capsule endoscope. He spoke highly of the endoscope's high-definition images and long battery life, while also specifically mentioning its non-invasiveness and painlessness, which make it well-tolerated and compliant among pediatric patients.

During the panel discussion, the congress chair and experts expressed great pleasure in seeing Chinese and Russian experts sharing valuable experiences at the conference, and expressed optimism about the promotion and application of Chinese-made capsule endoscopy in Russia. The National Research Institute of Gastroenterology of Russia has already started using Jinshan Technology's capsule endoscope. In the future, we look forward to more collaboration between China and Russia in the field of capsule endoscopy.
